What is this role, really?
- At GrowthX, the Creative Studio is working to build a media house. We deeply believe in the role of content to build an audience and are suckers for the nuances of delivering it.
- Writers are key to bringing big ideas to life. They are internet savants, storytellers, scientists, and conduits for all things trending. While they are creatively inspired by their surroundings, they must also have a unique ability to understand that video virality is purposeful.
- Our ideal candidate for this role will have a duality to their personality. They will be limitless in idea generation and also need to be able to work within our proven video formats. This position will have a huge learning curve, it is one of the hardest roles to fulfil at our company.
- If the candidate wants to exceed our expectations, they will study our data analytics for retention. Ultimately learning what makes a good piece of content will help our creative team develop even more successful formats to debut across platforms.
What you’ll be doing?
- Research trends and tactics for retention for the YouTube algorithm.
- Research trends and dig out insights about things happening in the business & startup world.
- Write hooks, pointers and CTA for videos that will be submitted to the Creative Strategist for approval.
- Work with the on-site team day to day to facilitate that the creative vision is met during production decisions, this will include but will not be limited to purchase decisions, sourcing materials, and scouting locations.
- Take meeting notes, organize and track all creative documents in production team drive.
- Skills that you need to nail
- Must have: strong skills on researching a current trend and digging out interesting, stats and insights around startups.
- Good-to-have: experience with writing for video.
- Brownie points: if you understand basics of video editing / can collaborate with video editors.
- Some of the storytelling references that we closely relate with are Vox, Johny Harris & Apple. This does not mean we hate other creators. We like the way they depict the form & function while making sure it’s dumb proof. We have some strong views of what non-converting writing is while we believe great writing is subjective & we respect the fact.
- We strongly believe education is a business of trust. Great writing builds trust and perceived value above all. We want our writing to be the benchmark across media companies (think Vox, AIB, TVF) of the world.
Where can this role evolve, really?
- If you have read other Jobs that we are hiring for, you must already know that we are building a creative studio at GrowthX (in Bengaluru). That does not mean you can’t work remote. You can 100% work remote & will have a chance to meet the team IRL every quarter.
- The research and writing role will become a key pillar on how we use content across multiple platforms. If you can scale and compound in the role, it will have a direct impact on moving the north star metric and will be visible at every task that you do.
